What is a Culex?

What the heck is a Culex Pipiens?

Why do I go by the alias of Culex Pipiens?

Why is your logo a bug?

Culex Pipiens is the Latin or Scientific name of the Mosquito. It is one of the more common carriers of the West Nile Virus. Mosquitos have been around for millions and millions of years. They have been a survivor. They were around with the dinosaurs and survived the big dino killing asteroid/comet. They survived ice ages. They still survive despite mankind spraying poisons in their best efforts to eliminate them.

Originally I picked the name for none of these reasons. I thought it sounded neat and no one on the internet seemed to be using it as an alias. As I “woke up” and realized how screwed up many things are and got introduced to prepping, survival and homesteading I continued to use the Culex Pipiens handle on various forums not realizing at the time just how well it fit in with the survival theme.

When I published my first Kindle Book I was hesitant to do it under my real identity, for a variety of personal reasons, so I published using Culex Pipiens as my pen name and have continued to do so ever since.
